Description: Job Title: Sr Optical Engineer (TS/SCI)Job Code: SAS20212207-65979Job Location: Chantilly, VAJob Description:Due to substantial growth in our business L3Harris has an immediate need for an Optical Engineer. We are seeking an intermediate professional with practical knowledge of the photonics area. This key role will provide technical insight for our existing technologies and develop new technologies to capture and lead new programs with our military, government, and commercial customers.Responsibilities: Design, analyze, modify, test and evaluate optical communications systems and subsystem level components. Design, analyze, modify, and test system level components. Interface with customers as an optical communication system subject matter expert Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. Perform simulations and present design reviews to peer engineers. Work with a technical leader on Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and ensure successful outcome through program milestones. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering with Optics Focus, Physics or related field with a minimum 6 years of experience or a graduate degree with 4 years of experience. Experience with photonics systems and components. Experience with optical communication system test equipment. Active TS/SCI security clearance. Preferred Additional Skills: Digital Lightwave Communications experience with Physical layer systems, components (EDFA, Modulators, SFPs, Switches, etc.), or modules for optical communication systems. Experience in Optical multi-input multi-output (MIMO) digital signal processing (DSP): Improving optical system throughput and bit error rate (BER) using post processing techniques. Photonic Modeling: Experience with modeling photonic systems using one or more of the following software packages: MATLAB, OptSim, BeamProp, Zemax, HFSS.
