Cyber Analyst

We are looking for outstanding, passionate, and dedicated individuals to join our Cyber Process Engineering Team. As a Cyber Analyst, you will leverage analytic and technical skills to discover cyber risks; prioritize assets, assess risks and remediation and mitigation techniques; report on risks, and drive and track remediation, mitigation, and acceptance of risk to tackle cyber business problems. On any given day, you will be challenged on three types of work - Assessment and Oversight; Reporting, Education, and Documentation of Controls to limit Risk; and Audit Management Ownership for the Cyber Engineering team.

Assessment and Oversight of the remediation of gaps in Governance Documentation, and Controls related to Cyber Engineering:
  • Assess vulnerabilities, investigate solutions and countermeasures
  • Review and validate Standards, Procedures and Controls, utilizing NIST CSF, CIS CCM and other Industry best practice tools to gather scope and breadth of issues in the Capital One environment
  • Prepare new Procedures, Process Documentation and Controls as necessary to help secure Capital One, and demonstrate an Audit-Ready, well managed team
  • Advise technical and non-technical stakeholders on appropriate prioritization of remediation and mitigation solutions
  • Provide appropriate challenge to risk acceptance


Cyber Engineering Reporting, Education and Awareness:
  • Advocate for improvements in Security Policy related documentation (ex: Standards, Procedures and Controls)
  • Support compliance and due diligence activities related to audits regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with teams and stakeholders to create tactical plans to best achieve strategic goals
  • Champion security best practice and be a Cyber advocate
  • Provide security and remediation and mitigation advice to cross-business stakeholders at a technical level
  • Proactive identification and communication of external themes and threats
  • Help drive security maturity in Engineering and security in general across the business, through positive engagement and teaching


Cyber Process Engineering Ownership:
  • Vigilantly partner with the team and stakeholders to develop and re-engineer processes and procedures to further mature the organization, and help secure the environment and data
  • Provide customer advocacy to all stakeholders as a representative of Cyber Engineering


Our ideal candidate will have:
  • Degree specialized in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline
  • Strong desire and experience with data in various forms (data warehouses and SQL)
  • Ability to learn and specialize over time in various technical disciples (e.g. Linux, Windows, Network, Public Cloud, etc.)
  • Solid experience in IT or Cyber related fields
  • Experience with public Cloud and managing assets and platforms


Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
  • At least 5 years of Information Technology or Cybersecurity experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in an Agile environment
  • At least 1 year of experience with Cloud technologies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 6+ years of Information Technology or Cybersecurity experience
  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud technologies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
  • 2+ years of experience working in an Agile environment
  • 1+ years of experience in scripting languages (Python, JSON, XML, JavaScript, Shell, or SQL)
  • 1+ years of experience in querying, analyzing, and working with large amounts of data
  • 1+ years of experience working with and demonstrating knowledge of data governance, data quality management concepts, and data quality tools
  • Professional certification (Security+, CEH, CISSP, or CCSP)
