For more information visit Position Description The Director of Content Creation is a critical and demanding role within the America250 organization. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Communications and Public Relations, the Director of Content Creation will oversee all creative and editorial operations across America250's portfolio, including social, digital, video, mobile, podcasts, and streamed and in-person event technologies, and with P&L ownership for all creative products and services under the America250 banner. From day one, the ideal candidate will have an immediate impact on the company's content strategy, demonstrating expertise in developing, deploying, and maintaining consistent brand voice internally and across all forms of media and distribution while developing the America250 content creation unit. The role requires experience in hands-on and operational systems navigation, capacity to lead high-volume, quick-turnaround content execution, and ability to execute an overall organizational vision, while bridge-building across departments. This role is based in Alexandria, Va., with a hybrid of remote and in-office work expected. Direct reports will include leads for social and digital, internal communications, and website management. The salary for this position is $140,000 annually with a generous benefits package.CoreResponsibilities:Develop, operationalize, and track the success of the overall content strategy for America250 initiatives and properties, in support of the strategic organizational vision;Lead and inspire the ongoing development of premium, first-class content, inclusive of videos, infographics, blogs, audio, apps, and data visualization, to ensure optimal content delivery to multiple audience targets across America250 and partner channels;Lead the curation and expansion of the America250 Newsroom site and editorial calendar, and strategically support all public relations efforts and events;Directional oversight of editorial content ideation, development, programming strategies, and distribution planning.Ability to think big and innovatively, constantly developing new ways to tell stories and find audiences.Oversight of all social channels and promotion of all America250 content and platform partnerships;Lead the purchasing or securing of all needed software and equipment to create first-class content and distribute itCreate and optimize editorial and content programming strategies.Ongoing analysis of key content and audience drivers, partners, and relevant market trends to best inform content, product and business strategies, and accelerate America250's digital presenceAmplification of America250 mission and content engagement via innovative content offerings, social media execution and other audience-driving initiatives.Development and clear articulation of annual, quarterly and daily goals and KPIs.Tracking of key brand metrics across audience, platforms, and content to inform workParticipation in industry events, panels, thought-leadership pieces and any other activities in the service of America250Recruiting, mentorship and management of a stellar team of creative and growth-minded individuals who will take America250 content to the next level.Success criteria for this role are threefold: innovation and creativity in support of America250 initiatives; operational efficiency that ensures all strategies to support those initiatives launch on-time and on-budget; and partner service, including working in close partnership with the branding and programming/planning teams as well as external partners and third-party platformsQualificationsandRequirements:10+ years of Content, Communications, Media and Brand experience in management role.Bachelor's degree (Masters preferred) in communications, journalism, media production, branding, social media, marketing, public relations, information technology or any other related field. Equivalent working experience is also acceptable.Proven team management, particularly leadership across successful editorial and business teams.Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, across senior management, peers, cross-company stakeholders and direct reports, as well as external partners and customers.Exemplary interpersonal skills, including collaboration expertise, ability to forecast and manage projects to deadlines, and capacity for constant multitasking and prioritization.Excellence in designing, persuasively presenting and iterating with conviction forward-thinking strategies to achieve America250 initiative goalsAdvanced analytical skills, particularly across the business of content, successful marketing and social campaigns, actionable data and insights, and ability to respond, shift and optimize content strategies when informed by data. Fluency in content technology, systems and platforms, as well as deep understanding of social media platforms, their audience-driving capabilities and levers, as well as ability to navigate the social regulatory landscape.Demonstrable history of designing, implementing and managing competitive social media strategies.Mastery of the full Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint executive presentation creation and Excel reports; additional proficiency in content creation tools, including InDesign, Adobe Create Suite, FinalCut Pro, Avid and Photoshop is a bonus.Deep knowledge of production technologies and equipment suited for in-house production needsPreferred Qualifications:Masterful understanding of Search Engine Optimization methods and data analytics to inform content decisions.Strong presentation skillsPossess solid news and editorial judgment in line with America250's mission and valuesStrong base of American history, civics, and pop culture knowledge with a DEI lensExperience managing teams of five or more staff To apply for this position, please email your resume and cover letter to jobs@ by August 30, 2021 with the job title in the subject line.SDL2017
