Strategic Insight, Ltd., a privately-owned, small business with more than 36 years of experience as a Professional Support Services government contractor, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our Corporate Accounting Department. The successful candidate must have a thorough, working knowledge of the Cost Accounting Principles for government contractors. The candidate should have experience with DCAA or other Agency auditors, and external CPAs.The individual will be responsible for all accounting operations, production of periodic financial reports, operation of the SYMPAC system, maintenance of accounting records, and ensuring a comprehensive set of internal controls. The Corporate Controller should have experience leading the annual budget process and ensure the production of timely and accurate financial results that comply with generally accepted accounting principles and federal acquisition regulations. The individual will provide strategic financial advice to senior management. The individual will lead and supervise the accounting staff; and coordinate across all functional areas throughout the organization.Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for budgets and financial forecasts, annual financial auditMonitors cash flow, financial statements, bank interface and reporting and tax planning.Responsible for preparing and submission of DCAA provisional rates, incurred costs submissions and DCAA audits.Sets up new hires and timesheets with appropriate charge codes, leave accruals and assignment of supervisor roles. in SYMPAQ Accounting system.Set-up contract/subcontract awards in in SYMPAQ Accounting system.Provide hands-on direction to Accounts Payable, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Billing, and General Ledger transactions.Manages and General Ledger month end closings and reporting financial statements to Chief Operating Officer.Review subcontractor invoices and ACH checks as prepared by Accounting staff.Reviews payroll changes as submitted by HR and processed by assigned Accounting Staff.Reviews quarterly state taxes and unemployment.Responsible for business insurance management.Responsible for Federal and state tax filings and annual property taxes and business license filing.Collaborate with Human Resources and ContractsServe as the pricing lead to include development of pricing strategies and preparing pricing and cost volume in response to Request for Proposals.Understand the financials of the company in order to meet legal requirements and keep the financial state in good standing.Perform other duties as assigned.RequirementsThe ideal candidate must have strong hands-on experience of Accounting principles and the government accounting process.Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration.M.B.A., CPA or comparable graduate degree preferred.8-10 years' of progressively responsible accounting experience to include 5+ years of supervisory experience.Must have 4 years in government consulting accounting experience.Experience using SYMPAC or similar accounting system required.Experience managing a system transition and implementation desired.Extensive knowledge of DCAA requirements.Must be able to maintain the highest level of professionalism, confidence and integrity while directly dealing with internal and external customers.Demonstrated ability to think outside the box when developing business-related solutions or strategies.Strongly committed to providing outstanding customer service.Very detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.Strong verbal, written, and inter-personal communication skills.Strong leadership skills and ability to delegate effectively.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams.Attention to detail. Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.
