Position Summary Ferrovial Services is bidding a large highway maintenance contract for the Virginia Department of Transportation in Northern Virginia district area (NOVA), including Arlington, Fairfax and Prince William Counties and the City of Alexandria. Primary Duties and Responsibilities A cents € cents Responsible for enforcement and compliance with all HS regulations, including documentation, tracking, and statistical reporting for regulatory agencies. A cents € cents Implement and maintain Project HS management systems that comply with Ferrovial Services, NA policies and procedures. A cents € cents Oversee training programs and requirements to ensure the safe operations, including the development of annual safety plans in coordination with the Project Manager. A cents € cents Conduct risk assessments, safety reviews, and audits. Identify and resolve HS deficiencies. A cents € cents Advise project leadership of associated HS risk management issues and take proactive steps to manage risks. A cents € cents Act as the Project's HS resource educating, training, advising, and supporting management, site personnel and sub-contractors of the requirements of relevant legislation and its application to Project activities. A cents € cents Control, periodically review, and update the Site-Specific Safety Management Plan, Security Management Plan, Training Plan, Hurricane Plan, and any other project related plans and procedures as referenced in the Operations & Maintenance Plan or as required by Project Manager. A cents € cents Participate in O&M Meetings. A cents € cents Identify licensing requirements and renewals applicable to project operations or activities. A cents € cents Assist in preparing HS Incident Alerts safety legislation updates for toolbox talks. A cents € cents Advise and assist in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis and Pre-START forms. A cents € cents Lead Monthly Safety meetings. Facilitate the Site Safety Committee. Thoroughly investigate incidents, accidents, dangerous occurrences and close calls at the project. A cents € cents Present the Project HS Orientation. A cents € cents Plan, perform and report on Hazard ID's, Job Safety Observations, Critical Process Confirmations, Operational Process Confirmations, and HS Workplace Inspections, auditing both employee and subcontractor activities and systems to ensure they meet the requirements of the relevant standards, sub-contract agreements, plus company and client expectations. A cents € cents Ensure prompt reporting of all incidents or close calls in accordance with procedures. A cents € cents Work with the project management team to generate and update project HS Hazards Register. A cents € cents Perform safety and risk evaluations on all project vehicles, equipment, and systems. A cents € cents Work with the project management team to identify, implement, monitor, and confirm HS solutions. A cents € cents Assist the Project Manager and other team members as required to ensure the successful delivery of contract obligations as it relates to HS A cents € cents Assist in completing other HS related activities identified by the project management team to be an action item for the project. A cents € cents Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of HS related non-conformities in processes or systems. A cents € cents Verify and confirm the effective implementation of determined solutions. A cents € cents Participate in the continuous improvement process through a consultative and team approach. A cents € cents Promote a positive HS culture in the workplace. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities A cents € cents Advanced knowledge of asset management and road maintenance, repair, and/or construction. Must be able to adapt to a constantly changing environment. A cents € cents Must be able to negotiate, coordinate and plan effectively. The incumbent must possess strong problem solving and communication skills. A cents € cents Ability to liaise at all levels with the Client and Subcontractors A cents € cents Ability to manage and organize multiple priorities, maintain a significant customer focus and positive customer service attitude. A cents € cents Proficient computer skills (including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project environment. A cents € cents This position requires a highly developed sense of safety awareness and perceptive ability. Must have the ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury or accident. A cents € cents Ability to communicate with co-workers' safety instructions. Education and Experience A cents € cents Bachelor's Degree or higher degree in related degree; or degree can be substituted for equivalent work experience and technical expertise in Health and Safety Management and reporting. A cents € cents Valid Driver's License with good driving record (required) A cents € cents ISO Auditor Certification a plus A cents € cents A minimum of 2 years' experience in a Safety Officer role. A cents € cents High level of computer skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. A cents € cents Basic and Intermediate VDOT Work Zone Traffic Control, NIMS 100's, 200's, 300's, 400's, 700, 800's and the VDOT Level 1 Incident Commander Trainings are required or ability to obtain within 1 month of assuming role. Work Conditions/Physical Demands A cents € cents Must be able to think clearly and focus on your safety in your immediate surroundings, while using tools and equipment, while driving or operating equipment. Will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to your job. A cents € cents As a supervisor, you are required to lead by example; encourage co-workers and supervised employees to correctly use PPE; follow proper safety rules of conduct, take appropriate corrective actions, including the initiation of disciplinary action to enforce the use and observance of PPE and safety rules within your area of supervised responsibility.
