Amazon.com strives to be Earth's most customer-centric company where people can discover virtually anything they want to buy online. By giving customers more of what they want - low prices, vast selection, and convenience, Amazon.com continues to grow and evolve as a world-class e-commerce platform. The spirit of innovation drove Amazon's evolution from a website to an e-commerce platform to a development platform, and it is part of the company's DNA. The world's brightest minds come to Amazon.com to research and develop technology that improves the lives of shoppers, developers, publishers, and sellers around the world. Amazon's vision is to offer the Earth's largest selection and lowest prices to our customers. Amazon.com is seeking a Director of Software Development for the Finance Technology (FinTech) organization. FinTech's challenge is to deliver the data, technology, and software solutions that accurately capture, process, and report the massive quantity of financial transactions. The transactions are generated each day as millions of customers make purchases, as thousands of vendors and partners are paid, as inventory moves in and out of warehouses, as commissions are calculated, and as taxes are collected in hundreds of jurisdictions worldwide. Reporting to the Head of Finance Technology, this position will lead a large, global team and be responsible for innovating and building the technical capabilities that Finance needs as Amazon grows toward a $1 Trillion company. This position will partner with our finance customers to deliver the technical capabilities they need, work with the leadership team to develop the long-term strategy for the FinTech organization, and actively coach and develop a large team. The software that the team builds includes automating complex Accounting and processes, supporting Amazon's global expansion initiatives, applying machine learning tools to detect anomalies in the flow of the over 20 billion transactions monthly. Identify technical capabilities that can enable business growth, reduce complexity, and improve productivity. Ensure the products your team builds are straightforward to use and have customer-centric user interfaces. Make very high judgment decisions on how to accomplish and prioritize features, functions, and new capabilities. This leader must have a proven track record of partnering with customers to identify new products and services. This leader must be an exceptional strategic thinker and actively contribute as a member of FinTech's leadership team on our team's strategic focus and what our next best investments should be. This leader can communicate their point of view and recommendations. This leader must have a strong background in software architecture development and experience working with distributed applications to achieve their deliverables.
