Senior Associate - Capital Markets & Risk, Capital Risk Oversight

The Capital Risk Oversight team is seeking a motivated candidate for a Senior Associate position. Capital Risk Oversight is a second line of defense function responsible for oversight of the company's capital measurement and management. This includes internal capital requirements, stress testing (CCAR and scenarios that inform the allowance for credit losses), regulatory requirements (Basel), as well as governance and compliance over those processes.

The second line of defense is both an expert advisor of the first line and an effective challenger of first line risk activities. The successful candidate will have a good blend of analytical capabilities, communications skills, and intellectual curiosity. In addition, the successful candidate will be able to build strong partnerships with the first line of defense capital teams and other internal independent review and challenge organizations (e.g., Risk Management, Model Validation, and Audit).

As a Senior Associate-Capital Markets & Risk, you will participate in a collaborative environment that values your insights, encourages you to take on new responsibilities, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovation.

General Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to challenges of capital measurement and management processes, including methodologies, assumptions/inputs, results, and business decisions
  • Perform data-based analysis: collect data from internal and/or external sources; summarize, convert, and validate data; input data into models or other processes or systems; verify outputs; and analyze and communicate results
  • Partner with other internal teams that perform effective challenge to ensure a consistent, high standard is maintained
  • Help to prepare challenge materials, documentation, and presentations to be shared with senior management, the Board of Directors, regulators, and auditors
  • Develop an understanding of industry best practices, trends, and supervisory guidance with respect to capital measurement and management
  • Suggest new analysis opportunities


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or Accounting
  • At least 2 years of work experience in an analytical role


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of capital concepts and capital's impact on business decision-making and risk management
  • Finance or risk management experience in a banking/financial services organization
  • Knowledge of/aptitude for querying and analyzing data using tools such as SQL, Python,R, and Tableau
  • Additional relevant educational background: Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Master's Degree in Finance, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or other Finance/Risk Management professional certification(s)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
