What We're Looking ForThe time is now to join HNTB! We are seeking a talented Project Engineer to join our dynamic team of Structural Engineers in the Mid-Atlantic area.Primary Focus Will Include:Cost control on projects and quality control within disciplinePlanning, design and construction phases of projectsWork on Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build ProjectsResponsibility for structural design and development of construction plans, specifications and cost estimates for structural work on complex transportation infrastructure projects.Completeness and accuracy of design team workPerform quality control of structural design calculations, drawings and cost estimates for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, noise abatement walls and other miscellaneous structures.Technical liaison with client for work within the disciplineResponsible for production ofstructural design for bridge projects,bridge geometry and plan layout,details, quantities, cost estimates, design services during constructionand final specificationsProvide coordination of project execution and control on structural design projects to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through final designPerform interdisciplinary coordination with highway design teams to promote consistency and compatibility in project designAccountable for handling specific design aspects on projectsCoordinate efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effortProvide innovative technical solutions to complex infrastructure problems through all phases of a project, from planning through final design to assistance during constructionServe as technical liaison with client and contractor on project effortsBridge Project EngineerDevelop project design criteria, design calculations, construction details, quantities and cost estimatesResponsible for cost control on projects and quality control within bridge disciplineResolve problems, interpret engineering specifications, investigate design and field engineering difficulties and coordinate schedulesManage single and multi-discipline structural engineering projects and develop cost-effective design solutionsProvide technical guidance and mentoring of project team members, including other engineers and technical support staff (CADD techs)Lead a small team of engineers in the execution of project design and production on both small and large projectsPrepare and check design drawings and/or specificationsReview and check engineering work completed by othersOversee planning, design and construction phases of projectsServe as technical liaison with client on project effortsMarket to clients in pursuit of additional projectsCost control on projects and quality control within disciplinePlanning, design and construction phases of projectsCompleteness and accuracy of design team workTechnical liaison with client for work within the disciplinePreferred Qualifications and Skills:Master's degree in EngineeringPEVDOT Structure and Bridge Design ExperienceDDOT ExperienceMicroStation ExpertiseWhat You'll NeedEssential Responsibilities:Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence the to the schedule and budget on projects.Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline.Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team's work within the technical discipline. Guides and mentors team to overall project objectives.Coordinates technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline.Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experienceMaster's degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experiencePhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experienceCompetencies:Ensures accountability by holding oneself and others accountable to meet commitments.Exhibits action orientation by calling upon prior experiences to take on new challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.Collaborates with other disciplines outside of own primary discipline.
