Job Announcement

Serves as support in the warehouse located at the Noman M. Cole Pollution Control Plant, a 67-MGD wastewater treatment plant. Responsible for procuring a wide variety of electrical, custodial, mechanical, plumbing and general hardware items utilized in pumps, drives, compressors, incinerators, filters and other process equipment items. This will include creating purchase orders and using county procurement cards. Maintaining inventory of replacement parts for plant equipment, building utility systems and tools for maintenance activities. Assist warehouse manager in the control of procurement, receiving, storing, and delivery of parts, equipment, chemicals and miscellaneous supplies. Serves as vendor contact for discrepancies in material shortages, damages or returns. Assist with inventory control that complies with county purchasing policies as well as audits. This position may be required to assist our other Wastewater Warehouse located in Burke, VA during staff shortages.

Duties will include:
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Familiarity with use of computer and keyboards that are used daily
  • Determines what parts to stock, in what quantities, and where parts should be shelved using inventory management principles.
  • Working with the accounts payable and finance departments to ensure timely payments and solving any purchasing related issues and questions
  • Inspects invoices and enters them into Focus the county’s business management and procurement system
  • Conducts cycle counting and physical inventories.
  • Interacts with operational staff (mechanics, field technicians and supervisors) to determine parts requirements and shop supplies needed by the facility.
  • Establishes working relationships with suppliers to facilitate obtaining parts and supplies for operational needs.
  • Identifies appropriate vendor source if no contract is currently available. If contracts do exist determining the best contract that best meets the needs of the agency (in terms of price, service, availability, etc.)
  • Uses the county's business management/procurement system (Focus) to create purchase orders and place orders for needed stock and non-stock parts, supplies.
Note: The selected applicant's starting annual rate will be in the minimum to midpoint range ($39,663.31 - $52,883.58) of the advertised compensation range.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education; and three years of experience procuring or issuing and receiving equipment or performing accounts payable functions.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
  • A valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain Forklift Safety Training Certificate within six months of hire date.


NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, credit check, driving record check, and a pre-employment physical examination to the satisfaction of the employer.
All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of industrial warehouse practices and procedures. Knowledge of inventory control methods and best practices. Experience operating a forklift. Experience using computers. Experience with FOCUS FILO and financial and procurement modules. Three years of experience procuring or issuing and receiving equipment or performing accounts payable functions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Good vision and the ability to lift 50 pounds; strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks including lifting, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
