Summary

As a Supervisor Security Specialist, you will perform work pertaining to the administration of Physical Security Standards and coordinates physical security and law enforcement support directly with the Federal Protective Service (FPS).

Location of position: Facility Security Programs Branch, Office of Mission Assurance, Washington, DC.

As a Supervisory Security Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
  • Manages and provides oversight for a variety of Office of Mission Assurance (OMA) programs, to include security and HSPD-12.
  • Ensures the national implementation of all policies, practices and directives affecting the security program areas including, but not limited to, physical, cyber, communications and emergency management.
  • Analyzes the technical functions and responsibilities assigned to subordinate employees and determines how best to use each employee's knowledge, skills and technical expertise to optimize and support the work of the Office.
  • Serves as a technical advisor to Officials regarding the administration of the Agency physical, cyber, and communications security and emergency management programs.

If selected, you must meet the following conditions:
  • Receive authorization from OPM on any job offer you receive, if you are or were (within the last 5 years) a political Schedule A, Schedule C or Non-Career SES employee in the Executive Branch.
  • Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 5 investigation level). You must be granted this clearance before you can start the job.
  • Have your identity and work status eligibility verified if you are not a GSA employee. We will use the Department of Homeland Security's e-Verify system for this. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of continued employment.
  • Complete a financial disclosure report to verify that no conflict, or an appearance of conflict, exists between your financial interest and this position
  • Serve a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period, if required
  • Submit to periodic and random drug testing where a urinalysis will be used to screen for illegal drug use. A negative test result is required before you start.

The GS-14 salary range starts at $122,530 per year.

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience managing and/or coordinating a security and emergency management program. This experience must have involved the development and implementation of program policies and concepts, policy interpretation, and critical operations planning for the personnel and information security of an organization.

  • Knowledge of the program segment and work directed typically covers the policy and guidance along with the tactical direction of regional emergency management, continuity of government, all disciplines of regional security management and HSPD-12.
  • Knowledge of policies, directives, and other regulatory materials to direct and lead a wide range of administrative and technical in the execution of regional and/or national security affecting various Security programs areas.
  • Ability to manage a comprehensive security program including development, supervision, motivation and coordination of a diverse staff of direct and indirect reporting personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Required Documents
