Ballard Spahr LLP has an exciting opportunity available in the Washington DC office for a Paralegal to assist the Mixed-Use, Condominium and Multifamily Development Practice Groups. The ideal candidate will be handling a range administrative tasks, research and standard document drafting. This person must be an organized, flexible, multitasker, who enjoys the challenges of working with a busy team of attorneys, well as government agencies in the District, Maryland and Northern Virginia. The Paralegal will undertake a range of administrative tasks and responsibilities that coordinate the activities of the practice group. Examples of these activities are assisting attorneys with compiling and organizing documentation for filing with the requisite government agencies for land use/zoning approvals and condominium and other common interest developments; maintaining a calendar of relevant dates; recording documents and handling the process for the approval and recordation of plats in DC and other jurisdictions; basic research, standard document drafting. Additional duties may include assisting attorneys in monitoring legislative and master plan actions in various jurisdictions; preparing property summaries related to zoning and subdivision status; and conducting review of newly enacted legislation for client summaries. Demonstrated ability to multitask with attention to detail and within a busy team environment. Ability to organize multiple projects is required. Excellent writing, technical, interpersonal, research and organization skills are essential to be successful in this position. Candidates must have a proven track record of being able to communicate effectively and meet deliverables. Two or more years of prior law firm, in-house legal department, title company or other commercial real estate corporate experience.
