This position is for VSL Electrical, Signing, Lighting, a subsidiary of The Lane Construction Corporation.VSL is a specialty contractor that provides complete electrical, signing, and lighting systems solutions for complex, critical infrastructure.The Electrical Chief Estimator is responsible for managing, estimating, and bidding in the surrounding area.Responsibilities:Including but not limited to:Work with management to track and select projects to bidManage the bid team throughout the entire processQuantifying project componentsVisit project to understand site conditions/restrictionsWork on a preliminary project schedule based on the information provided in the plans and specifications utilizing Primavera P6 or Primavera Contractor softwareDevelop a clear understanding of project specificationsWork with procurement to assure that necessary subcontractors and vendors are contactedPrepare a cost estimate in HCSS for materials, equipment, utilities, timeline, and required workersLead bid review meetings with managementSelect subcontractors and vendors team and closeout the bidAdvise and assist in preparing bid form, conceptual estimates, negotiated proposalsReview all final estimates to ensure accurateness and completionPrepare budgets for JD Edwards for projects wonTrack historical costs and insure they are used in pricingDevelop policies and procedures related to the bid processMay personally develop estimates for large or complex projects.Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane valuesAnd other duties as assignedQualificationsMinimum 10 years of experience as an Estimator in the Heavy Highway IndustryMinimum 5 years of HCSS experiencePrevious success in leading an estimating teamJD Edwards experience strongly preferredBridge, earthwork, and airport experience preferredStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and WordStrong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-orientedExcellent verbal and written communication skillsFamiliar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and proceduresRelies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsLead and direct the work of othersA wide degree of creativity and latitude is expectedby Jobble
