Description:

General Summary:

Under moderate supervision, the Central Services Technician I is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following established infection control practices. Able to accept new ideas and will assist in implementing them in the department. Actively engages in the department's performance improvement activities.

A Level 1 CSP technician is certified in sterile processing. They will maintain their IAHCSMM or CBSPD certification in accordance with departmental policy and will maintain their personal productivity at an average of 95% or greater. A Level 1 CSP technician accepts additional assignments related to support functions as is needed to provide service excellence to patients, visitors, and hospital staff.

Hours: Monday - Friday (3pm-1130pm, rotating weekends)

Summary:

Required:

Certification - (IAHCSMM) International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management OR (CBSPD) Certification Board Sterile Processing Distribution

High School Diploma

Knowledge: Ability to read, write, speak and comprehends English. Basic computer skill. Must have knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to perform simple math. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift over twenty-five (25) pounds of instrument trays, equipment and supplies.� Pushing and pulling of carts.� Reaching, handling and fingering of instruments and supplies.�
