THE POSITION

Capital One's Finance organization is seeking an experienced and innovative product executive to help drive the on-going transformation of the company's financial reporting systems and the technologies that power it. As Capital One becomes a leading technology company with modern cloud-based software products, a key strategic priority includes digitally transforming the finance function into a best-in-class organization.

The Finance organization at Capital One is on an exciting multi-year journey to revolutionize the way the team operates through the use of next-generation technologies. The goal is to become a fully automated operating and reporting environment with systems that are cloud-based, real-time and intelligent. The combination of technology with core Finance strengths is what will distance Capital One from the competition. As such, this leadership role will be critical to accomplishing these goals and reinventing finance.

The Head of Product for Finance will lead an organization with a heavy focus on creating and driving the strategic agenda to advance the products that comprise and power the Finance ecosystem. This person will be responsible for overseeing two critical product organizations related to (1) the new global finance platform, and (2) the legacy applications.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Manage and grow a team of 40-50 product owners who drive Agile pods in the design and delivery of key business operations vital to the Finance organization's success.
  • Create and drive a strategic roadmap for the finance platform and all related product initiatives.
  • Design innovative products that enable Finance to radically transform the way it operates and deliver value to its business partners.
  • Manage the existing software applications.
  • Be a change agent and have a growth mindset. Drive a modern product-mindset that embraces user-centered design and agile methodologies.
  • Collaborate closely with Design and Tech/Engineering Leads.
  • Educate and influence key stakeholders in Finance on the direction of the platform.


THE PERSON

The successful candidate will be a seasoned product leader with a passion for transformation and emerging technologies. Ideally, s/he will come from environments with a strong agile culture and will have experience across a variety of high-tech/design companies. Strong business judgment, a bias to good design, and strategic orientation are essential. Experience with data and finance use cases, preferred.

  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to influence across a matrixed organization.
  • A management style that is mature, collaborative, energetic, and results-oriented.
  • Intellectually curious; interested in understanding and experimenting with leading-edge technologies.
  • A "talent magnet" who is inspiring to all levels within the organization.


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 10 years experience in product management with experience in design thinking and a modern agile environment
  • At least 5 years of executive product leadership roles


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 15+ years experience in product management with experience in design thinking and a modern agile environment
  • 8+ years of executive product leadership roles
  • Experience with leading edge technologies, real-time reporting and analytics, cloud computing, machine learning, AI applications
  • Knowledge of the financial services and banking industry
  • Exposure to the Finance function in a financial services/banking environment
