As an IT Specialist (Network Services), you will provide expert technical support in all areas and functions associated with OCC infrastructure systems, network services, and systems administration as it relates to all data center and network systems. In addition, you will lead, perform plans/design and manage implementation of the network infrastructure and enterprise network solutions; troubleshoot, plan capacity, install, implement and administer network systems.

As an IT Specialist (Network Services), you will:
  • Perform full range of project management activities. Plan short-, medium-, and long-range objectives and recommend ways to achieve them for an assigned segment of the enterprise. Manage multiple projects, through the systems development life cycle.
  • Plan, analyze, design, develop, test, perform quality assurance of, configure, install, implement, integrate, maintain and/or manage agency networked systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats.
  • Make recommendations to management on the information technology needs of the organization.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to the director and senior managers on planning, liaison, construction, and/or implementation of information technology
    products for the assigned unit. Communicate with business unit customers of the direction of information technology initiatives.
  • Identify and resolve complex IT problems or issues that cross functional boundaries.
  • Lead and perform market research, contract solicitation, contract award, vendor management, IT investment, pilot program implementation, and program and project execution for infrastructure improvements and network modernization.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - Travel to remote offices throughout the US in support of network implementation, break fix, refresh, etc. In addition, travel occasionally to attend training and/or conferences.

Required Competencies: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-V band level or GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
  • Working with customers, management, and/or technical teams to resolve system outages that impact agency productivity. and
  • Configuring, provisioning and integrating multi-cloud platforms and services with existing on-premise infrastructure and applications. and
  • Leading efforts to deliver and manage enterprise network infrastructure for geographically dispersed workforce. and
  • Designing, configuring, testing, and supporting network services, including LANS, WANS, and telecommunications systems. and
  • Utilizing tools and techniques to secure network infrastructure.

The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.   • Salary range includes 22.26% geographical pay.
