Friendship Public Charter School is the area's largest non-profit public school management organization, serving nearly 8,000 students from pre-school ( three years old ) to 12th grade on ten campuses. Friendship operates both public charter and partnership schools with Baltimore City and District of Columbia Public Schools. Since its inception in 1997, Friendship Public Charter School has enabled thousands of students in underserved communities to become real achievers. Friendship students live in some of the city s most underserved communities where 75% are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Friendship applies its unique educational model with winning results to improve academic performance, educate the "whole child," and offer families support services with the goal of preparing 100% of our students to enter and complete college. Friendship operates around a simple principle: all students must be prepared for higher education and the career of their choice by ensuring mastery of the skills, knowledge and tools needed to succeed in the 21 st century global economy. The Security Officer performs all tasks directly related to providing a safe, secure learning and working environment at their assigned school, including the physical security of the building and grounds, the safety of the assigned staff, students, and visitors at the school, and the safeguarding and protection of Friendship Public Charter School system assets. Opens and unlocks the building, grounds, and parking lots, preparing the facility to receive staff and students Secures and locks the building and facility at the end of the day, ensuring that all gates and doors are secure, and that the building alarm system is activated Conduct and observe searches of all personal property entering the building, including briefcases, computer bags, pocketbooks and purses, student's book bags, backpacks, and lunch boxes Staffs various posts in order to provide the appropriate security presence and coverage, ensuring personnel safety, physical security, and asset protection Perform security walk-through of the school, in accordance with the assigned daily schedule, and as directed Prepare a formal Incident Report for submission to the Head of Security, when required, or directed Obtain statements from students, staff, or teachers as appropriate to properly document significant events, which occurred during that day's shift Special Requirements: May be required to work weekends, early evenings, on weekdays and selected holidays. Graduation from high school OR GED a minimum of 2 years of experience in security (school experience is preferable). Police experience or higher education may be substituted. Minimum of 5-8 years of school security officer work experience Must have Security Certificate or License Satisfactory criminal background check, satisfactory drug test results. A valid District of Columbia Security Officers license issued by the Metropolitan Police Department Required: Fully vaccinated against COVID-19. A person is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after the last dose of a COVID-19 vaccination series (after the second dose of a 2-dose series, or after one dose of a single-dose vaccine).
