Position Overview:A' We are aA' busyA' 15-provider multidisciplinary ophthalmology practice with three office locations in Northern Virginia (Falls Church, Fairfax, and Alexandria).A' We are seeking to add a new ophthalmic technician toA' our team.A' The Ophthalmic Technician is an allied health professional who works closely with our physicians to perform day-to-day clinical activities.A' The Ophthalmic Technician is primarily responsible for triaging, taking accurate histories, assisting with prepping for in-office procedures, and handling incoming clinical requests from patients, pharmacies, and other providers.Common Job Duties:Complete and submit Prior Authorization requests in a timely mannerComplete appointment follow-up items, such as prescription refills, e-prescribing requests, etc , as requested by our physiciansConduct special studies testing for patients as needed, including visual fields, OCTs, fundus photos, etc.Ensure exam rooms are properly stocked with supplies and patient formsHandle prescription requests from pharmacies and patients in a timely mannerPerform refractionsPrepare patients for examination by performing dilation, special testing, etc Prepare rooms for minor procedures and assist physicians with those procedures, as requestedProcess medical record release requestsRecord thorough medical histories, including medication and allergy historiesRecord thorough complaint listsRespond to patient inquiries from phone calls, messages, and/or our Patient Portal in a timely mannerTriage complex patient calls or in-person visits regarding eye problemsOther duties, as assignedAdditional Optometric-Specific DutiesSubmit patient contact lens orders to vendorsVerify patient contact lens orders against chart notesOther duties, as assignedAdditional Pediatric-Specific DutiesMonitor and track all Retinopathy of Prematurity office visitsOther duties, as assignedTechnical and Other QualificationsAt least one year of experience working as an Ophthalmic TechnicianAt least one year of experience with refractometryHave reliable transportationBe willing to travel to multiple office locations throughout a given day / weekAbility to multi-taskAbility to prioritize workloadAbility to work at a moderate-to-fast paceAttention to detailFamiliarity with Electronic Health Records softwareFamiliarity with Practice Management softwareGreat organization skillsFor more information about our Practice, please visit our website at
