Job DescriptionThis position is ideal for an RN looking to change specialties and needing a fellowshipDepartment Specific InformationThe Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU) at Inova Fairfax Hospital is an 18 bed adult unit. Our medical population includes but is not limited to: GI bleeding, COPD, sepsis and septic shock. Our post-operative surgical population includes: esphagogastrectomy, AAA repair, numerous revascularization surgeries and abdominal surgery. We also provide care to liver, liver/pancreas transplant and obstetrical emergency patients.The MSICU Highlights: 18 private rooms (all have patient lifts), EpicCare electronic medical record technology for improved care and safety, Geriatric-sensitive color schemes and patterns for patient and visitor safety, Patient/Family zones in patient rooms to promote involvement, privacy and comfort, Larger patient room windows allowing more natural light to promote healing, 360-degree patient access in critical care rooms for urgent in-room procedures, Free Wi-Fi connectivity throughout hospital for convenience.Care needs of our patients may include, but is not limited to patients requiring: Invasive hemodynamic and/or cardiac monitoring Intubation and mechanical ventilation Intravenous administration of vasoactive medications Conduction of medical and nursing research studies Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)Schedule: Night shift (7pm-7am)Inova Fairfax Hospital is proud to announce that the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) awarded MagnetA' (R) designation, the most prestigious accolade for nursing excellence, to our hospital in December 2020. Follow the link to learn about our Nurse's !Requirements At least 6 months of RN clinical experience in a Critical Care settingEducation - BSN or AD If RN has an AD, within 6 months of start date the RN must meet with their nurse leader and Identify which Accredited School the employee plans to attend Submit a review of transcript from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date. Complete BSN within 24 months of start date BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification required and ACLS strongly preferred (must obtain within first 3 months)RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RNProficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skillsExceptional interpersonal skill and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards othersProficient computer skills requiredAbout UsInova is Northern Virginia"s leading nonprofit healthcare provider.
