An experienced technician with a good understanding of the ophthalmic practice and patient care. Knowledge of ophthalmic instrumentation and its proper care and usage is needed. The ability to communicate with patients, coworkers, and physicians is critical.List of Responsibilities/DutiesPromptly and professionally assists the doctor in patient care.Performs technical workups, patient interviews and special testing.Communicates with patients regarding procedures, follow-up care, changes in schedule, and symptoms.Communicates with Ophthalmologist regarding patientScribes for assigned physician accurately and efficiently.Maintains and cleans all equipment being used, and reports to supervisor if not in working condition.Maintains patient confidentiality.Minimum Demonstrated SkillsEfficiently and accurately interviews patients and documents histories.Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms and ocular meds.Accurately performs:RefractionsLensometryTonometryVisual fieldsAmslersMuscle testingPupil ExamsTopographyOCT"sBasic slit lamp examHas a working understanding of A-scans, fundus photos, nerve fiber analysis.Has basic knowledge of contact lenses.Utilizes proper eyedrop technique and sterility.Understands characteristics of common anterior segment disorders and oculoplastic conditions.Displays consistent professionalism.Is energetic and empathetic with patients.Consistently displays positive rapport with fellow employees.Cooperates with supervisory staff and physicians.Scribes readily when doctor desires.Demonstrates flexibility in job assignments.Takes pride and ownership in the success and image of OAGA.Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals.Physical DemandsMust be able to stand for long periods of time.Must be able to write.Must be able to hold arms at shoulder height.Must be able to communicate via phone.Must have manual dexterity to work with ophthalmic equipment.Employment Type: Full TimeYears Experience: 1 - 3 yearsBonus/Commission: No
