This position is ideal for an experienced RN looking to change specialties, needing a fellowship!!The Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is an 18-bed adult unit. It is the only dedicated neuroscience intensive care unit in the Northern Virginia region. Our patient population includes Neurosurgery, Ischemic stroke, cerebral hemorrhage, and other critical care patients based on bed availability. We are actively engaged in clinical research to treat the patient with CVA to include Interventional Radiology procedures. Inova Fairfax Medical Campus has received certification to be a primary Stroke Center from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and is currently a level 4 Epilepsy Center designated. Average length of stay for the NSICU is 4.3 days. Our nurse/patient ratio is 1:2.Care needs of our patients may include, but is not limited to patients requiring: Invasive hemodynamic and/or cardiac monitoring Intracranial pressure monitoring Intubation and mechanical ventilation Intravenous administration of vasoactive medications Conduction of medical and nursing research studies Post-operative recovery for extensive surgical procedures Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) Schedule: 50/50 Day/Night rotationRequirements Required - At least 1 Year of RN clinical experience in a Critical Care setting or completion of a Critical Care fellowship. 1 - 2 Years of Critical Care/Neurosciences RN experience strongly preferred. Education - BSN or AD If RN has an AD, within 6 months of start date the RN must meet with their nurse leader and Identify which Accredited School the employee plans to attend Submit a review of transcript from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date. Complete BSN within 24 months of start date BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification required and ACLS strongly preferred (must obtain within first 3 months) RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN Proficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skills Exceptional interpersonal skill and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others Proficient computer skills required #InovaAbout UsInova is Northern Virginia"s leading nonprofit healthcare provider.
