Westat has an immediate opening for a Study Manager to join our team of leading public health researchers conducting research and evaluation studies and providing technical assistance to measure and address health disparities and health equity in health promotion and disease prevention.  

The successful candidate will have experience in project management, evaluation research, training and technical assistance, and business development. 

Job Responsibilities:
• Conduct, or occasionally lead, qualitative or quantitative research including input to study design, instrument development, data collection, analysis and report writing. 
• Support or lead the provision of technical assistance, including developing materials and working directly with recipients of technical assistance.
• Work with study collaborators and project staff to develop and implement study protocols, maintain study documents, prepare for meetings, and be responsible for project-related day-to-day study communications. 
• Work with cross-functional project teams and external partners.
• Participate in business development activities including proposal development.  
• Contribute to report results for publication in peer-reviewed and technical journals.

Basic qualifications
• A master's degree in public health or a related field and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 1 year of relevant post-doctoral experience.
• Knowledge of public health programs, research, infrastructure, and current issues and best practices. 
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and verbally, using generally accepted correspondence and report formats.
• Experience in chronic disease and/or HIV community interventions, health equity or working with vulnerable populations.

Preferred qualifications: 
• Experience working in a contracting environment.
• Experience working in diverse communities.
• Experience working with academic institutions. 

You will have excellent attention to detail and be comfortable and effective working on multiple, complex tasks in close coordination with others under limited direction, and have strong interpersonal and writing skills.
