Location: Herndon, VADuration: 3 months w/ possibility to extend/convertProvides support to end users on a variety of issues. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems. Responds to telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical support. Documents, tracks and monitors the problem to ensure a timely resolution. May require an associate's degree in a related area and 0-3 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.We are looking for Data Center Technicians to join our rapidly expanding team. This position involves in-depth hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair as well as participating in an on-call rotation.All candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful. In addition to hardware and network repair candidates will install equipment, create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site-level project work, and fix complex problems within the Data Center Space.Basic QualificationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills An advanced understanding of Computer Hardware, including troubleshooting and repair skills. Working understanding of Linux Operating Systems. Working understanding of Computer Networking. Working understanding of Storage Devices. Proven experience in problem solving and addressing customer service related issues by working with the customer and other internal teams This position has a physical component. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50lbs and may need to work in cramped spaces or elevated locations. Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to participate in on-call rotation and provide afterhours support as needed Some travel may be requiredPreferred qualificationsHands-on experience with one or more of the following hardware platforms (eg Dell, HP) is a plus. Preferred candidates would have: Previous Data Center or IT experience Knowledge of Perl, Python, Bash, or other scripting languages.
