The Attorney will act as a legal point of contact on behalf of the Privacy team. As such, the Attorney will conduct legal research in the following areas: privacy-related regulation and legislation on federal, state, and international level and perform special projects. With guidance from the Chief Privacy Officer and the Privacy Program Manager, the Attorney will prepare and provide legal opinions to relevant areas of the business.In addition, the Attorney will assess the impact of proposed laws, regulations, cases, industry policies, and Acxiom's self-regulation policies, all in an effort to provide advice to affected stakeholders on compliance. The Attorney will maintain the list of laws and regulations that touch the organization and track proposed legislation and regulations and update stakeholders as required.The Attorney will be an active participant on internal and external industry committees. Specifically, the Attorney will participate in various industry trade associations, such as the Association of National Advertisers, the Coalition for Sensible Public Record Access, the National Association of Attorneys General, and Conference of Western Attorneys General. Internally, the Attorney will participate in, and lead various strategic committees in order to ensure Acxiom is compliant with relevant privacy legislation. The Attorney will also participate in, and provide legal oversight and approval where necessary, for the Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) committee.Additionally, the Attorney will serve as an escalation point for several areas of Acxiom. First, the Attorney will be a point of escalation for the consumer care advocate on the Privacy team. In this regard, the Attorney will assist as needed for standard consumer opt-out request escalations, consumer inquiry escalations, and enforcement issues and escalations. Second, the Attorney will also serve as an escalation point for data sourcing matters.
