Fellow or Senior Fellow, Government Contracting The George Mason University, School of Business, Center for Government Contracting, invites applications for multiple positions for Fellow or Senior Fellow, Government Contracting. The Fellow will help conduct research, thought leadership, and outreach to support the Center's work with the Department of Defense, other U.S. Government agencies, and companies across the government contracting community. The term is 12 months with the potential for renewal. This is a part-time position and is fully funded from external foundation funding and the position is expressly contingent upon the continuation of such foundation funding. To support these strategic initiatives, the School of Business is playing a significant role in three new university initiatives: the Institute for Digital InnovAtion (IDIA); the Institute for a Sustainable Earth (ISE); and the School of Computing. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Undertaking academic literature reviews;Writing technical reports, white papers, and commentary pieces on various government contracting issues;Creating, distributing, and codifying the results of surveys;Drafting guides for and conducting interviews with staff at government contracting firms and contracting agencies;Managing qualitative research data;Undertaking or assisting with statistical analyses of financial and operational data related to government contractors and government contracting;Seeking extramural research funding through grants and contracts;Supervising the work of more junior researchers and student research assistants;Self-organization. Required Qualifications:A master's or doctoral degree or demonstrable research that exhibits mastery; or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience; Three or more years' experience in defense contracting, public procurement, accounting, or business and policy research;Skill with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.Preferred Qualifications:An academic concentration or major in a relevant field, including business, economics, or public policy;Managerial experience in defense contracting or public procurement;Research experience in defense contracting or public procurement;Familiarity with R or Stata, NVivo, and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).About the Center for Government Contracting:The vision of the Center for Government Contracting is to be a nexus for government, industry, and academia to address issues in government contracting. The GovCon market is a huge ($500B+), diverse, sophisticated, and interesting industry whose business issues are worthy of specialized academic study, research, and curricula. The industry, based in the Northern Virginia-DC Capital region, employs approximately 1 in every 6 professionals in the area, and has some 10,000 Mason alumni working in it. With the School of Business and other Mason faculty, the Center is conducting activities in research, education and training, and collaboration to achieve this vision.
