Position Information
The Arlington Economic Development (AED) Department is seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing Coordinator, who will report to the Marketing Manager and provide marketing coordination and administrative program support for the Arlington Convention and Visitors Service (ACVS) Division's marketing, sales and visitor services activities.

T he Arlington Convention and Visitors Service (ACVS) Division markets Arlington as a premier destination for leisure travel, business travel, meetings, conventions and groups, and as the best place to stay, shop, dine and be entertained when visiting the Washington, D.C., area. Arlington is the lead county in Virginia for tourism economic impact since 2009, with more than $3.5 billion in visitor spending in 2019.

Specific duties include:

  • Updating and maintaining multiple ACVS databases and platforms including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system (Salesforce), StayArlington website Content Management System (Craft), Digital Asset Management (DAM) system (Libris by PhotoShelter), and visual marketing platform (CrowdRiff);
  • Creating, scheduling, and monitoring posts for StayArlington social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn) using current industry best practices;
  • Writing StayArlington website, blog and public relations content;
  • Distributing monthly stakeholder e-newsletters and other communications through the Salesforce Marketing Cloud;
  • Assisting with monthly digital analytics, including Google Analytics, social media analytics and Salesforce Marketing Cloud email tracking;
  • Engaging regularly with Arlington tourism partners (hotels, attractions, stores, restaurants, etc.);
  • Conducting online surveys and local research on tourism topics; and
  • Providing administrative support, including tracking purchases, distributing and tracking print and digital advertising contracts, organizing events, preparing documents and mailings, scheduling meetings, etc.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with knowledge of the hospitality industry in Arlington and the U.S. capital region. Along with excellent communication, prioritization, time management, and organizational skills, this candidate will also possess extensive MS Office experience and the ability to multi-task and be flexible when priorities change.

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor's Degree in Tourism, Marketing, Business, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field; and
  • One (1) year of experience in Communications and/or Marketing.

Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Desirable: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Content development for Social Media, Websites, Blogs and/or Public Relations;
  • Marketing or Sales at a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO)/Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), or at a tourism-related organization (i.e. hotel, tourist attraction, event venue, restaurant group or similar);
  • Use of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and/or Content Management System (CMS);
  • Digital publishing (experience with Photoshop or InDesign);
  • Professional or amateur digital photography and/or videography; and
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) skills.
