The Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins (SAIS) has been educating global leaders for more than 75 years. SAIS was founded to provide a practical approach to training students in international leadership and foreign relations, and to provide mid-career educational opportunities for those already working in related fields.Language Studies ProgramThe Language Studies Program (LSP) contributes to the school mission of enabling its students to better understand the world and improve it through the instruction of language and culture in the context of international relations. As part of the school graduation requirements, MA students need to pass a language proficiency exam in one of the languages taught at SAIS. The LSP is responsible for the language proficiency assessment of these students. To fulfill its mission, the LSP works in conjunction with the Office of Academic Affairs, Admissions and Student Affairs.The Language Studies Program at SAIS invites applications for Fall 2020 and/or Spring 2021 for a roster of part-time language professionals in the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Indonesian, Japanese, Persian, Russian and Spanish.The Language Studies Program seeks to recruit candidates for the following positions:+ (a) Language Testers. The responsibilities of language testers will be to develop proficiency assessments in one of the above languages.Proficiency assessment. Credentials as language tester and native speaker fluency required.+ (b) Language Lecturers. Minimum of five years of experience as language lecturer at college level required, and an interest in content-based instruction in topics of International Relations desired.For Language Testers and/or Language Lecturers+ Native Speaker fluency+ Masters Degree in linguistics, foreign language instruction or related discipline.+ Both testers and lecturers can work remotely or on-campus.
