Description/Job SummaryThe English Language Services Department serves more than 2,000 students each year in a range of English as a Second Language (ESL) classes offered throughout Baltimore. The ESL classes include six levels of instruction, from Beginning English Literacy through Advanced English. These are funded through the Department of Labor Consolidated Adult Education and Family Literacy Services Grant. This position provides direct support for; student advisement and registration, administration of pre-and post-testing, data collection and validation, and administrative support for instruction.Responsibilities/DutiesCoordinate and conduct student registration, as well as process student registrations and related student enrollment and update forms.Conduct testing and scoring of pre- and post-assessments; Advise students; Assign instructional level and provide educational information to other on- or off-campus sites as necessary.Maintain student data, prepare student enrollment, attendance, and update reports.Provide support for teacher, instructional materials, photocopying, and equipment support.Assist with the creation and distribution of recruitment flyers/posters.Assist with recruitment efforts at community outreach events.Type documents and forms.Answer phone and respond to inquiries about ESL on the telephone, computer, and in- person.Operate office equipment including copier, fax, computer, scanner, and shredder.Work cooperatively with other members in the Division and College on projects and initiatives, and perform other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelors Degree in Education, TESOL, or related field; Minimum of 1 year administrative or related work experiencePreferred QualificationsMaster's Degree
