The HR & Benefits Associate is responsible for providing support for HR-related programs, policies, and initiatives, and ensuring that all employees understand Comstock's benefits program. S/He also assists with other human resources related tasks such as organizing employee events, supporting managers with employee relation issues, and talent development. This position is onsite in Reston, VA. Responsibilities - Benefits Offer excellent customer service to applicants, current/former employees, etc. Administer Comstock's benefits program such as health, dental, vision, life, 401(k), leave of absence and disability Oversee benefit enrollment/changes and COBRA administration while monitoring payroll deductions Review and audit benefit invoices on a monthly basis and submit to AP timely Manage Comstock's wellness and recognition programs Create employee communications to ensure comprehension of benefit plans and any changes that occur Provide maintenance and upkeep of benefits platform, benefits related documents and benefit links/documentation on our network Assist in managing annual open enrollment including development of communication materials, analysis of benefit rates, handling vendor relations, and enrollment processing Assist in the preparation and delivery of presentations for managers and employees on a variety of HR-related topics Manage benefit compliance to include items such as filing accurate 5500s, distributing SARs and Certificate of Coverage Create reports and censuses on an as-needed basis Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and industry best practices Responsibilities - Generalist Facilitate small focus groups and design surveys to elicit internal data and feedback Administer engagement surveys Coordinate employee events to enhance morale Assist with employee relations issues Operate and serve as the primary administrator of the Learning Management System (LMS). Confirm that new hires are set up in eLearning system and courses are completed timely; Identify opportunities to utilize the LMS (Yardi) to enhance learning programs Create engaging and informative communications to disseminate in monthly HR newsletters, via email, during semi-annual company-wide Town Halls, etc. Collaborate with department managers to identify training needs, assist with identifying available training resources, and coordinate the effective delivery of employee training including scheduling events, designing and creating materials, managing logistics, and collecting and analyzing participant feedback. Ensure that training is adequately documented for each employee Partner with HR colleagues, internal leaders, and external trainers to drive innovative and high-impact talent and organization development programs and initiatives aligned with the company's strategic goals and vision. In collaboration with the aforementioned individuals, design, develop, manage, and facilitate innovative and effective in-person and web learning solutions around leadership, onboarding, corporate culture, customer service, performance management and coaching, etc. to improve organization and individual staff performance Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications BA/BS degree in Human Resources or related field Minimum of three years of benefits administration experience Prior experience working in a benefits consulting organization a plus Experience managing a LMS or coordinating/facilitating trainings a plus High level of technical proficiency, particularly with Outlook, Excel, Word and benefit enrollment systems a must Comfort working with very sensitive data and able to maintain a high degree of discretion Must be highly credible and trustworthy, and operate with high degree of integrity Must hold oneself and others accountable and strive for a high level of excellence Must have a positive, can-do attitude and be able to fuel growth and innovation Must be customer-focused and results-oriented Must want to continuously learn and develop Exceptional oral and written communication, active listening, and organizational skills Extremely detail-oriented Ability to establish strong working relationships with others in team setting Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment Ability to present effectively and professionally to all levels of the organization Self-directed and able to work independently, with minimal supervision PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Spend time sitting, standing, and walking Spend time making repetitive motions Able to use his/her hands to manipulate/control tools and/or objects Work under distracting or uncomfortable noise levels Work indoors in a temperature-controlled environment Respectful of shared workspace and physical proximity with other Comstock considers the health and safety of its residents, tenants, guests, and team members as its highest priorities.
