We are seeking a Scientific Data Manager for our NASA NACS High Performance Computing contract.Summary: You will be an active member of the ASRC Federal account team, interacting with the Program Manager, Site Lead, Customer, and site staff attending regularly scheduled customer meetings to keep the customer informed of activities and progress, answer customer inquiries concerning all aspects of the various the program. Apply DataOps concepts and methodologies to leverage tens of petabytes of science data in HPC, AI, and ML applications to improve science outcomes.Preferred Skills Familiarity with Climate and Earth Scientific Data, to include NetCDF and HDF data. Ability to evaluate data workflows, identify areas of improvement, and deploy new, more efficient workflows. Familiarity with High Performance Computing (HPC) environments and related technologies. Software coding experience, to include Python development.Duties And Responsibilities Work with system administrators to ensure compliance with NASA security policies. Work with data owners to extract data requirements. Create detailed data workflows from extracted requirements and provide all applicable documentation. Answer data-related support tickets and act as a liaison between users and system administrators. Develop data management scripts, preferably in standard scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and Perl. Create Data Management Plans (DMPs) that will be used to manage user data collections through the full lifecycle, from initial (inbound) transfer to deletion or off-campus deep archives. Provide periodic reporting of data usage patterns, to include key statistics such as file access counts, total storage used by a particular user/group, and others. Where applicable, work with NCCS stakeholders to develop recommendations of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) or custom data analytics solutions. Master's degree or equivalent.A minimum of 10 years of experience managing data assets in heterogeneous, multi-platform environments. A minimum of 3 years of software development, preferable with Python. Experience with software development to support administration and automation of data workflows. Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and document technical designs. Business process experience, to include analyzing existing workflows, designing new, more streamlined workflows, and executing the steps necessary to deploy the updated processes. Familiarity with web-based documentation tools such as Confluence and Jira. Sound understanding and appreciation for all major functional areas of IT. Good organization skills to balance and prioritize work, and ability to multitask. Good communication skills to communicate with support personnel, customer, and managers. US Citizenship required.
