Summary

The Cloud SME works with software architects and engineers to manage current and future cloud-based applications, including Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions. The incumbent should have experience designing, developing, and implementing and securing Amazon cloud environments. The Cloud SME will be a member of a team that will plan, design, and implement the overall Cloud architecture, as well as the migration of data and applications.

Responsibilities
  • Perform system administration support and cloud engineering for the development of a prototype agency that supports Impact Levels 2, 4, and 5 systems in the commercial cloud environment.
  • Develop and maintain architecture requirements, evaluation of candidate cloud services, metrics, supporting documentation, and final reference architecture documents.
  • Work with the IA team to obtain cloud accreditation approval under Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Perform modernization activities focused on the consideration of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and cloud solutions that will meet the Legacy Applications modernization objectives to support Customer Business processes.
  • Develop and recommend evaluation criteria needed to perform best value assessments of proposed modernization solutions.
  • Perform technical reviews of architecture and design artifacts for consistency with United States Army, DoD, and NIST policy, as well as alignment with system requirements.
  • Perform the required analysis to establish software and data systems information requirements and design specifications using methodologies for the development of prototype and/or large-scale hardware and software-based information processing systems and cloud based Software as a Solution (SaaS) products.
  • Support briefings and other presentations for customers and stakeholders on a wide range of technical and other program topics.
  • Participate in technical assessments and reviews to validate the technical approach and associated work products, designs, and implementation plans.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree and 5+ years of Systems Administration/Engineering or related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted
  • Amazon AWS certification and AWS hands-on engineering experience are required
  • Formal training in COTS cloud solutions is required
  • DoD 8570 IAT II certification is required
  • Secret clearance required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must have advanced working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications with word processing, spreadsheets, database (MSWord, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), and Outlook.
  • Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols and standards, and strong technical knowledge of telecommunications, networks, and PC operating systems.
  • Ability to properly apply STIGS as needed.
  • Familiarity with SCCM, WSUS, SHAVLIK, and other patching tools.
  • Ability to understand IAVAs and remediate issues as needed.
