SPA provides expertise across the full range of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosives (CBRNE) WMD, Counter Improvised Threat(CIT) and Countering Threat Network (CTN) technologies to support understanding, detection, identification, characterization, denial, control, disabling, defeating, disposing, safeguarding the force, managing consequences, and test and evaluation in support of military and civilian operations. #CJ #IN123ResponsibilitiesServes as a technical/scientific resource to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) on projects, analyzing problems and applying theoretical techniques to develop solutions that measure, evaluate, define, mitigate the nuclear survivability of US systems and equipment. Works on advanced, complex technical projects that require state of the art technical or industry knowledge on subjects such as mechanics, fluid mechanics, quantum mechanics, geology, optics, acoustics, electricity, pneumatics, magnetism, and electromagnetic and particle radiation. Uses, maintains, tests, and develops mathematical and scientific models to study complex systems. Resolves highly complex technical issues, conducts advanced engineering research, and recommends alterations to development and design. Prepares technical documentation and presentations to explain the approach, associated assumptions and conclusions of scientific investigations. Integrates and coordinates work within the department and other departments. Responsible for risk management and quality control efforts. Applies technical expertise directly to work efforts.Qualifications Master's degree in Nuclear engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related curriculum 5 years of related experience in an engineering or scientific function, including research and development or acquisition. Demonstrated success in engineering programs or projects. TS Clearance or ability to receive a TS clearance; SCI eligibleDesired Qualifications TS/SCI Clearance PhD in Nuclear engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related curriculum Working knowledge of nuclear weapons effects and their battlefield effects on equipment, and/or understanding of T&E, acquisition Knowledge of DOD weapons systems, aircraft survivability, DOD survivability, EMP, nuclear blackout, radiation, radiation transport, nuclear engineering, survivability, nuclear weapons effects Project Management Experience
