Allan Myers is the largest heavy civil construction company and materials provider in the Mid-Atlantic.Together they have been awarded the Transform I-66 Outside the Beltway project, this project involves multi-modal improvements to 22.5 miles of I-66 corridor from I-495 in FairfaxCounty to University Boulevard in Prince William County. The project features two express lanes alongside three regular lanes in each direction, with space in the median for future transit; corridor-wide bike and pedestrian improvements; and safety and operational improvements at key interchanges throughout the corridor.General Description:The position of Safety Coordinator will assist the Safety Manager with the responsibility of promoting safety policies, procedures, and work practices through the Safety Plan for Construction.ResponsibilitiesProvides program administration to ensure that a safe, healthy, and secure work environment exists for employees and the public, including persons with disabilities, and that the public is protected from harm in connection with operation of the project;Performs safety orientations for employees and subcontractors;Performs safe driver training;Conducts periodic safety inspections of all worksites to identify and correct unsafe conditions and unsafe acts, and document the results;Investigates and documents all occupational injuries;Prepares and maintains reports, or documents that may be required to meet corporate or regulatory requirements;Organizes and prioritizes a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meets deadlines;Ensures that each employee understands the assigned task, is provided with the necessary equipment, and follows all safety and health policies, procedures, and work practices; andPerforms other duties as required.Qualifications:Accredited four (4) year degree in heavy highway /civil construction and eight (8) years of work related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to ten (10) years if non-degreed;Safety Certifications: OSHA 40, OSHA 30 card, First Aid/CPR certification and other Safety certifications;Experience on large highway, bridge/structures, paving, and/or utility relocation projects as a contractor;Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner; andAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.Bilingual required
