The Oncology Service (TOS) is a multi-facility small animal oncology practice. At TOS, we strive to provide "The Future of Veterinary Cancer Care"A' to our clients and patients. It also means access to state-of-the-art cancer therapies, including both medical and radiation oncology.We are seeking an enthusiastic, extremely organized LVT to join our growing practice in Northern Virginia (Springfield). We are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in oncology and would view this position as a career, not a job.We are privileged in veterinary oncology to have some of the sweetest patients and most dedicated clients. Our team is close-knit, always willing to help each other and works well together.As a Vet Tech at The Oncology Service, you will be responsible for:Overseeing appointments and managing clients throughout their visitParticipating with the Oncologist's in-patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and proceduresObtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspiratesUtilizing different modalities of imaging for patient and procedural assessment.Executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic eventsProviding empathy, comfort, and unparalleled nursing care to all patients being a strong patient advocate during the patient's hospitalizationMaintaining all equipment on a per-use basis ensuring the safety and best practice care of all patientsAdvanced knowledge along with preparation and administration of various chemotherapeutic agentsProviding extensive client communication and education on various oncology disease processesAbout you:Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital setting requiredStrong communication skills, verbal and written; organizational skills; proactive thinking and a positive attitude are also a mustAccuracy in calculating and delivering anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIsProficiency in record keeping related to medical procedures including daily treatments administered, patient status, procedures completed, supplies used, and anesthetic recordsReview and understanding of all medical records pertinent to patient careComprehensive understanding and experience with anesthetic monitoring is requiredProficiency in processing basic laboratory specimens and working knowledge of radiographic techniques is requiredLVTAbility to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is requiredPositive outlook and ability to work well in a collaborative environmentExcellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expectedHonesty, integrity, and a desire to learn and have fun!Thank you for reading our job posting!Ethos is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
