GreenDrop has been selected by the American Red Cross, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the National Federation of the Blind and Saint Vincent de Paul Society to raise funds through the generation and collection of donated clothing and household items. There are two mechanisms for donations - by dropping off at donation sites (currently 34 sites with growth to 42 by EOY) or by home pick up where a truck visits donors' homes or businesses to retrieve items. In addition to helping worthy charities, GreenDrop's work is of huge benefit to our environment as we keep millions of pounds of clothing and household items out of landfills through our comprehensive recycling programs. About 2nd Avenue Thrift Superstores 2nd Ave Thrift Superstores operates a chain of 12 thrift stores located in the Mid-Atlantic region with stores in NJ (2), PA (3), MD (5) and Northern VA (2). The 2nd Ave stores are large (average 40,000 sq ft), brightly lit, clean, organized and have a very high transaction count and revenue base relative to most thrift stores. The stores have a broad and everchanging selection of high-quality secondhand products, refreshing an average of 10,000 new items a day in each store. 2nd Ave procures its inventory by purchasing donated goods from charity partners (through their affiliate partner, GreenDrop). Our goal is to keep as much product out of landfills as possible by reselling secondhand products. Whatever product is not sold in stores is wholesaled aiming to recycle almost 95% of the products we manage. 2nd Ave recycles over 100 million pounds of material a year. Job Description We are seeking an energetic Community Marketing Coordinator to help drive localized marketing initiatives for two quickly growing brands: GreenDrop Donation Site and 2nd Avenue Thrift Superstore Events Coordinate local marketing and advertising efforts and facilitate Grand Opening Events Manage all onsite event elements including production, budget management, ros, signage, staff, entertainment, and vendors Procure the attendance of local Chamber of Commerce Members, local politicians, other key community representatives and partners Solicit and manage onsite press coverage Secure content from event to use on channels and supply to media Plan ongoing Community Events to continue to drive coverage and awareness for GreenDrop locations and 2ndAve stores after Grand Openings Manage outreach, local marketing, community relations, and event planning for ongoing efforts Community Marketing Identify, plan and schedule donation and exclusive retail events with local businesses and organizations. Act as a regional brand ambassador for decentralized marketing needs such as: site visits, local media placements, cross-promotion opportunities, social content, creator/ influencer production, local PR pitching needs, etc Community Relations Create deep and impactful connections in the communities you represent. Identify partnership and community group opportunities that will be relevant in the locations. Network, develop and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, restaurants, malls, groups, and other establishments to strengthen community relations for ongoing marketing efforts. Coordinate events with GreenDrop and 2nd Avenue operations staff/teams Core Competencies Strong relationship building and networking skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and direct others Excellent communication (written and oral) skills High energy, positive attitude Ability to negotiate, influence and interact with various audiences A self-starter who can work autonomously, think on your feet and problem solve in an ambiguous environment Qualifications Bachelor's degree (preferably Communications or Marketing). ~ 3 years business experience in a related field (Marketing, Sales, Community Relations, PR, or Event Planning). Marketing generalist with basic knowledge of traditional and digital marketing channels Strong project management, written and oral communication skills. Proficient in Power Point and MS Office software Ability to learn new platforms and software quickly Event planning experience is a plus Region: must be local to the greater Washington DC region with +/- 2 hour drive time to regional stores/centers; travel required Company Benefits We are a small company doing big things and growing rapidly!
