Description/Job SummaryThe American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (www.aiaa.org) in Reston, VA seeks a Market Research Analyst to assess AIAA's: 1) customer and member preferences to inform new product development and enhancements; 2) current products and services in the marketplace; and 3) current and planned product and service competitive position. This position will report to the Vice President, Product, Market, and Revenue Development.Responsibilities/DutiesDevise, implement, and evaluate methods for collecting data such as surveys, focus groups, questionnaires, and pollsLead collaborative effort with Marketing and Information Technology to define requirements and to establish/maintain best practices and standard operating procedures for data collection, data analysis and supporting digital infrastructureIdentify, recruit and manage external research resources, when appropriateCollect and interpret data in statistical tables and reportsUse statistical tools to analyze and interpret dataTrack and report industry and competitive trends to predict success or failure of products and services in the marketplaceConceptualize, track, and report customer and member engagement key performance indicators and metricsTrack and report industry and competitive trends to predict success or failure of products and services in the marketplaceConduct specific research on specific markets, market conditions, and market sizingMonitor and forecast marketing and sales trends, assisting with the development of sales projectionsAnalyze pricing conditions and trends making recommendations in coordination with Finance and MarketingConduct competitive research and analyze benchmarking data, simplifying complex data in a user-friendly formatPresent research findings to colleagues, staff leadership, and occasionally volunteer groups/leadership through written and visual means (charts, graphs, etc.) to make informed decisions on new product development, modifications, and retirementContribute findings to Marketing to inform marketing campaignsAssist in measuring the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and strategiesRefer new client acquisition opportunities identified through targeted and untargeted market research to sales teamRequired SkillsExcellent analytical skills with strong theoretical and research proficienciesStrong proficiency in math, statistics, data science, web analytics, and research toolsExcellent verbal communication, professional writing and presentation skillsAbility to gather large amounts of data and convert it into meaningful analysisStrong interpersonal and customer service skillsThorough understanding of marketing strategiesExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsExcellent team player with proven ability to work collaborativelyEnergetic self-starter who can quickly adapt and thrive in a multitasking environment and meet strict deadlinesExcellent Microsoft office skills (Word, Power Point, Excel).Experience with Association Management Systems (AMS) or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems including the ability to build queries; Abila's NetForum Enterprise System preferredRequired ExperienceAt least five years of progressive experience in market research and analysisExperience working with an Association or other member-based organization preferredRequired EducationBachelor's degree in market research or marketing with a concentration in market research; alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in statistics, math or business administration with 5 years of professional market research experienceProfessional Research Certification a plusDetailsAbout AIAAAIAA's purpose is to ignite and celebrate aerospace ingenuity and collaboration, and its importance to our way of life.
