Bluemercury seeks an experienced, innovativeA' MerchantA' with a passion for beauty to drive the growth of its business. The merchant will own all aspects of the merchandising strategy for a designated portfolio (hair), as well as the execution of that strategy. The merchant will be responsible for achieving sales and margin objectives and maximizing profitability, while driving growth as an integral part of overall company growth strategies. Bluemercury is currently on a rapid growth trajectory, and this individual will become an integral part of the Merchandising team that will shape and drive that growth.A' A' ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop near term and long term strategic plan for designated portfolioOwn financial management of portfolio: actively manage business to achieve financial targets and maximize performance; conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews; create annual budgetsCreate compelling assortment tailored to the Bluemercury customer; build and manage planograms and in-store display programs with appropriate regionalizationBe the champion for innovation in the portfolio; identify key trends and opportunities, build business cases to support new ideas, and drive actionCollaborate with Bluemercury Digital and Marketing teams to develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans and programs, both short and long termManage vendor relationships, including ongoing planning and negotiation as well as the elevation of partnerships to create best in class collaborative programsCollaborate with Bluemercury Planning team to manage inventory flows to optimize service levelsDevelop pricing strategy and maintain rigor in ongoing executionConduct and direct ongoing analytics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in the portfolio in order to drive active management of the businessActively monitor performance; develop action plans to mitigate risks and/or respond to changing circumstances, and execute them in a timely mannerAct as the in house expert on the category and customer; monitor market, competitive, and consumer trends and distill learnings for the organizationPrepare and deliver presentations to cross-functional colleagues and senior leaders in the organizationA' SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:4 year degree required; MBA a plus5+ years prior experience in specialty retail or beauty environment is requiredPrevious professional experience in category management, merchandising, buying, planning & allocation, sales, marketing, or shopper & consumer insights is requiredStrong understanding of retail financialsExcellent analytical skillsAbility to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a teamStrong communication skills, both oral and written, including strong presentation skillsAbility to adapt to changing and ambiguous situations; thrives in a dynamic & fast paced environmentExceptional computer skills, including extensive experience in Excel and PowerPointExperience with IRI data, Nielsen data, and/or Spectra software is a plusA' This job description is not all inclusive.
