Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RIS) is looking for a Senior EED-3 Earthdata Operations Senior Software Engineer for our Raytheon's EED (EOSDIS Evolution and Development) team our of Riverdale, Maryland. Full time telecommuting is available for this position. Life with Raytheon Intelligence and Space In this role, you will work with an amazing team of engineers, on the EED-3 program, that supports NASA in its mission to provide scientists and other users access to data from NASA's Earth science missions. As a member of the EED-3 team, engineers build innovative tools allowing scientists and students alike to discover, transform, update and improve the quality of Earth science data in the pursuit of solving a wide range of environmental and socio-economic issues. More specifically, you will be working with the Earthdata team, which is responsible for maintaining the earthdata.nasa.gov website, authentication to EOSDIS services and application, and working on developing a cloud-based authentication system. What You'll Get to Do: As a Senior Software Engineer and a member EED-3 (EOSDIS Evolution and Development) Earthdata / Earthdat Login team, you will supporting commercial small-sat data acquisition. This team works with NASA to evolve and maintain several applications including https://urs.earthdata.nasa.gov/ and https://earthdata.nasa.gov. The Earthdata / Earthdata Login team is a high performing agile team working in the Scaled Agile Framework methodology.As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible to: + Deploying and validating production releases+ Supporting developers with the automation of tasks and development of scripts+ Ensuring availability of the production system during normal business hours+ Working together with the Product Owner to track, report and analyze operational metrics in order to optimize system performance+ Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle from user story generation, through design, development, automated testing and operational support+ Develop new feature ideas to meet the ever-evolving needs of our end-users+ Assisting the Product Owner in responding to end-user requests+ Communication with end-users and responding to end-user requests+ Developing end-user knowledge bases and/or tutorials+ Continually help the team grow by sharing new ideas and industry best practices+ Suggest improvements to processes and tools to help the team be more efficient+ Comply with various project standards and requirements of the company as well as the customer and legal requirements of (SEC-508).+ Ensure industry best practices and assets are leveraged whenever possible. You'll Bring These Qualifications: + At least 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer+ Experience developing with AWS Services (such as Cognito)+ Experience with a functional programming language, such as Clojure+ Experience with Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Javascript, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)+ Experience working in a development team using an Agile methodology (preferably Scrum or SAFe).+ Degree in a technical major, such as Computer Science or Engineering It Would Be Great if You Also Had One or More of the following: + Experience with DevOps including doing automated testing and deployments in a CI/CD pipeline (Bamboo preferred)+ Experience with Google Analytics+ Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite (JIRA for bug tracking, Confluence for collaboration).+ Experience with scripting on a Linux OS+ Experience developing on MacOS X and deploying to Red Hat Enterprise Linux+ Experience presenting at technical conferencesDue to the nature of the work, we can only consider US citizens who are able to pass a National Agency Clearance with Inquires (NACI) screenings.
