Transition Specialist-Mental Health Professional
We are seeking a Transition Specialist (Mental Health Professional who is committed to enhance our clients' independent living and interpersonal skills and prepare clients to return to school or volunteer placements. Our Recovery Academies are located in Alexandria and Fairfax, VA. Is the schedule flexible? This is a full-time, 40 hours/week position, Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm. Staff must be able to facilitate groups during the program hours, and the schedule is not flexible.What is the rate of pay? We pay a competitive starting salary of $43,250 or more, depending on experience.Are there benefits? With whom would I be working? Our Mt. Vernon Recovery Academy is located in Alexandria, VA on Rt. 1, and is a one-story building with various classrooms, a large common area, and a kitchen. There are several peer staff, clinical staff, Supervisor, and a Regional Director. This is a structured, team environment. There are about 60 adult clients who attend the Mt.Vernon Recovery Academy. Once trained, you facilitate the groups alone, Staff aim to enhance clients' independent living and interpersonal skills and prepare clients to return to school or volunteer placements. Each group may have up to 15 clients in attendance. Caseload is up to 30.Do the classes have a curriculum? Yes, an evidence-based curriculum is established for all groups and is used to guide facilitation. Staff feedback is used to ensure curricula are updated, current, evidence-based, activity-oriented, and interesting to the clients!Do I receive training? Staff receives training through a variety of modalities, including shadowing/observing group facilitation and completion of other job duties, direct on-the-job coaching from a supervisor, twice-monthly supervision meetings (one individual the other group meeting), and some formal training opportunities (such as food handler training).What characteristics do I need to be successful in this job?
