You are keen to help support and enable the future of our TAS business and desire to focus on product improvements, performance, stability, security and maintenance aspects to support and grow our customer base. You will lead teams such as infrastructure for the product that handles deployment and release, identity/auth and credential management and platform components. You will also be responsible for leading the charge on innovative ways on achieving long term sustainability of codebases.**Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?**You can communicate and collaborate with product and design in your development and you are constructive in sharing your opinions.You oversee the staffing setup, location strategy for work and feasibility in overall operating costs.You have set up a clear charter for your teams. The roadmap, backlog for your teams and execution should all be running smoothly on an ongoing basis.Your teams are healthy as determined by key metrics of engagement, retention, work/life balance, delivery that you helped put in place.**What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? As a leader in Engineering, you will:**+ Be a program lead for the TAS program along with your peer Director in Engineering and Product Management.+ Manage headcount, hiring, onboarding+ Helping ensure our engineering teams have the direction needed to be successful in building out enhancements+ Coach managers and sustainably grow the teams and individuals on your program.+ Lead and orient a team of 35+ engineers and 5 managers to deliver the program objectives.+ Work at a team level with product managers, engineers, designers, and people managers in figuring out what to work on next and how to prepare for future work.+ Bringing clarity where there is uncertainty, managing risk and continuously delivering value.+ Defining experiments, measuring success metrics and using data to inform decisions.**What is the leadership like for this role?**The hiring manager for this role is Haripriya Rajagopal, Sr Director of Engineering.Haripriya joined VMware again in April 2021 to lead Tanzu Application Service programs. Prior to this, Haripriya was a Senior Director of Engineering at Illumio managing about one fourth of the engineering organization there in areas of Authentication & Authorization, the Core Platform, Cluster/Service Management, Availability, Performance and Scale. Her team delivered the largest micro-segmentation deployment in the world there.Haripriya is no stranger to VMware - she was formerly a Director of Engineering at VMware up until 2016 overseeing all flavors of vMotion, VM Lifecycle and the vSphere cloud platform.
