Summary NIST works with industry and science to advance innovation and improve quality of life. We're looking for a IT Specialist (Data Management) to join our team! This notice is issued under direct-hire authority to recruit new talent to occupations for which NIST has a severe shortage of candidates. Responsibilities Working as an IT Specialist (Data Management) in the Platform Services Division, you will provide storage system support, monitoring, and implementation for Office365 storage and collaboration systems including OneDrive and SharePoint Online. You will improve our data loss prevention policies and assist in the development of our controlled unclassified information (CUI) implementation. You will do this work within the Office365 administrative environment and through McAfee MVISION. Assist with Google Workspace and Box as required. Develop subject matter expertise on Office365 storage services, including data loss prevention policies. Apply your expertise to the development of CUI storage and dissemination methods. Assist with metadata quality and standard implementations. Define requirements and provides customer support for the development of custom solutions using Office365 storage technologies. Including assisting with the development of automated workflows and use of PowerApps and Power BI. Provide Tier 2 customer support for Office365 technologies, particularly in the use of OneDrive and SharePoint Online. Contribute to automated analysis of Office365 environment through PowerShell. Provide user training and documentation to enhance usability of cloud storage technologies. Develop standard problem resolution strategies and documentation for Tier 1 customer support. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Basic Requirements: This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified in the section titled Experience. Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. 1.Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2.Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3.Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4.Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Specialized Experience: In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level (ZP-II at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience: Administering Office365; developing PowerShell for monitoring an Office365 environment; use of version control technology, such as git; ability to contrast the benefits of cloud storage systems, such as OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Google Drive, and Box; experience with OneDrive synchronization issues and known OneDrive system limitations, including troubleshooting desktop problems with OneDrive; experience in configuring and customizing data loss prevention policies for Office365 cloud storage systems. OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application. Additional Information The physical worksite for this position is located in Gaithersburg, Maryland. However, the Office of Information Systems Management is currently under a maximum telework posture due to the COVID-19 pandemic; therefore, this position is currently under a 100 percent telework schedule. The position's telework schedule will likely change in the future when Office of Information Systems Management moves away from its maximum telework posture. At that time, the incumbent will be expected to report to the physical work site in accordance with the updated status requirements of their supervisor. The nature and scope of future telework opportunities will be subject to the unit's telework policy, any applicable bargaining unit agreements, and supervisory approval. Payment of relocation expenses, as applicable, will be paid in accordance with this Job Opportunity Announcement. Non-compliance with the supervisor's telework-schedule requirement could result in adverse action, including separation.
