Job Description

The Washington Post is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Article team. This team works closely with engineering, product and design to build new features that enhance our reading experience. This part time role could result in a full-time position for the right candidate.

You will quickly learn our complex product ecosystem, identify gaps in existing test cases, and design and develop a robust automated testing plan. You'll work collaboratively with our engineering team to help implement automation best practices and analyze the quality of features each release so we can deliver our best work to our readers.

Responsibilities
  • Define overall test strategy for large projects and reviewing developers' test plans to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • Identify gaps in existing test coverage and driving fixes to fill them.
  • Understand our complex ecosystem and product portfolio in depth and apply that understanding to implement optimal test coverage.
  • Design and develop a visual regression testing plan to aid in continuous deployments.


Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in Quality Assurance
  • Experience in manual testing
  • Experience in automation testing
  • Experience with JavaScript, React, Node.js, Python


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Experience testing microservices architectures at scale
  • Experience with end-to-end testing frameworks such as Cypress or Selenium
  • Experience with visual regression testing
