Director of Business Analysis, Chief of Staff - Retail Bank

The Chief of Staff (CoS) will assist in managing strategic priorities and operational routines for the business. The CoS will partner with the SVP of MAPS (Marketing, Analytics and Product Strategy) and the leadership team, human resources consultant (HRC), and stakeholders across PX and Retail Bank to execute the business strategy.

The Chief of Staff will provide thought leadership, best practices and serve as a central point of coordination for organization level efforts in the following areas: business strategy, routines and priorities, strategic communications, expense management, project management, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) efforts, and operational improvements. They will partner with the MAPS HRC to implement culture and talent initiatives. Finally, the role will serve as the primary point of contact for teams and groups inside and outside of PX and Retail Bank.

The candidate will need to possess a strong intellect and have a proven track record of influencing, excellent verbal and written communication skills and working with a senior management team.

Responsibilities:

The Chief of Staff will have responsibilities that include:
  • Partner closely with the SVP of MAPS and the Leadership Team; develop, build and manage MAPS strategic focus and priorities
  • Work closely with the MAPS Leadership Team to clearly define and communicate the overall strategy and areas of focus
  • Build strong connections to key stakeholders across Retail Bank and Capital One to ensure clarity of MAPS objectives and alignment to overall strategic focus
  • Facilitate the creation of presentations that articulate the MAPS strategy to key internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify and track metrics to ensure achievement of priorities
  • Overall meeting cadence and routines within MAPS
  • Support executive in driving business critical diversity, inclusion and belonging efforts across MAPS
  • Event Planning/Associate Engagement
    • Offsite planning
    • All-hands Meetings
    • Agenda setting
    • MAPS LT Events
  • Special projects as needed


Skills/Competencies Needed:
  • Highly analytical background and experience within previous roles with specific strategic and analytics focus
  • Proven ability to build strong, trusted relationships and operate in an influential manner with senior executives to assist in driving the business agenda
  • Strong business judgment, influencing skills, leadership and integrity are essential for this position
  • Must possess a high "EQ" and be a collaborative team player
  • Proven experience in developing a macro-level view of the company and Retail Bank's strategy, while focusing on taking an action-oriented approach that is geared toward execution and delivering results
  • Strong facilitation, negotiation and mediation skills; ability to drive to consensus
  • Strong project management and organizational skills. Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated, self-starter that can work autonomously and can independently take initiative
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous situations and bring clarity to problem solving
  • Proven experience in discretion in handling highly sensitive issues


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 5 years of Project Management experience
  • At least 5 years of People Leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • 7+ years of Project Management experience and project management certification (PMP, Agile, Lean)
  • 2+ years of analysis experience
  • 2+ years of experience serving in a Chief of Staff or project management role in a large, complex and matrixed organization
