Sr. Manager, Risk Management - Data Governance Program

Enterprise Services Risk professionals are highly motivated with excellent project management and communication skills. As a Senior Risk Manager in Capital One's Enterprise Services (ES) Risk team, you will apply your project management and analytical skills to our highest profile Risk Management projects. You will collaborate with smart and passionate leaders to influence results that ensure Capital One's continued stability and success. You lead important and exciting projects from day one, working alongside key stakeholders across the company.


This role is responsible for ES Risk's horizontal data governance program which includes oversight and management across 12 ES operating divisions (Brand, Enterprise Supplier Management, External Affairs, Enterprise Safety and Security, Growth Ventures, Experience Design, Workplace Solutions and Shared Technology). ES Risk is building out a risk services model to provide enhanced governance for Enterprise Services related risks. Specifically, this role will:
  • Support ES data transformation activities
  • Oversee key data governance controls for Enterprise Services related to registration, metadata, lineage, data quality, and data defect reporting.
  • Partner with Enterprise Data Management to advance data maturity across the organization
  • Lead control initiatives to identify key risks and issues and facilitate remediation activities among our partners
  • Work closely with second-line policy owners to understand new and emerging requirements and develop plans to mitigate data risks
  • Collaborate with teams to understand ES models, including those that leverage AI/ML capabilities
  • Develop and implement a risk service model that meets Enterprise Data Management policy requirements
  • Demonstrate a high degree of forward-lean and support innovation through process improvements and automation
  • Build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders of varying seniority to drive the team to meet roadmap milestones
  • Display a passion for coaching and developing a team of associates through their leadership style

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of Audit, Risk Management, Data experience or combination
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients
  • At least 2 years of people leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of Risk Management, Data Governance, Data Management experience or combination
  • Relationship building skills, customer focus, and ability to collaborate across teams to deliver results
  • Financial Services experience with knowledge of applicable data regulations
