Responsibilities

This position is located in the Office of Inspector General, Office of Management, Information Technology Directorate. The Information Technology Directorate provides software development, infrastructure and technical support services along with information security, records, and property management.

Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will perform the following duties:
  • Works with users to convert business needs into technical system requirements
  • Works with other system developers to design, develop, and test applications to assure systems quality, conformance to the OIG enterprise architecture, and the integration of appropriate information security controls
  • Serves as a Contracting Office Representative to prepare or evaluate contractor work scope, funding requests, performance schedules, milestones, and deliverables for system development projects and thereby, ensure that work is appropriate, well-planned, and performed in a cost-effective manner
  • Demonstrates skill in applying database management concepts, principles, and methods including database logical and physical design
  • Other duties including developing user and technical documentation, preparing formal documents to support investment management decisions and fulfil security requirements, developing training materials, conducting user-training sessions, and supporting other team members, as necessary.

This is a Public Trust Position. Employment in this position requires a background investigation. Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Applicant must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade or equivalent band level of responsibility in the Federal Service.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

GS-12: (1) Applying infrastructure requirements, such as bandwidth and server sizing; (2) Integrating new and/or reusable systems components; and (3) Utilizing database management principles and methodologies; including data structures; data modeling; data warehousing; and transaction processing.

GS-13: (1) Applying software design principles, methods, and approaches during all phases of the system development lifecycle; (2) Designing and developing applications through the optimal use of reusable component; and (3) Utilizing database management principles and methodologies; including data structures; data modeling, data warehousing; and transaction processing sufficient to design, write, test, debug; and maintain software applications that meet technical and functional requirements.
