The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities. Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member Applying knowledge of engineering principles and practices for assigned transportation design projects Assisting a project manager or senior engineer with task production including preparing engineering related calculations, drawings, and visual aids Assisting in maintaining project documentation Producing high-quality plans that are accurate and effective in communicating the design concept to the constructor Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation Must have interest in Rail/Transportation Must possess a valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred Interest in Railroad Engineering Capable of using a spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software Strong written and verbal communication skills Be organized and detail-oriented Willingness to travel (if and when required) Basic knowledge of some industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS) Some working familiarity with State DOT's or similar public works organizations is preferred Previous intern/coop/work experience in engineering is preferred What We Offer When you join AECOM, you become part of a company that is pioneering the future.
