Title: Gene Therapy ResearcherLocation: Silver Spring, MDFLSA Status: Non Exempt Midnight Sun Technologies, LLC. is currently seeking a Gene Therapy Researcher/Scientist.Position Summary:The Gene Therapy Researcher will support the research program of FDAs Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, Office of Tissue and Advanced Therapies, Division of Cellular and Gene Therapies. DCGT uses molecular, cellular and animal based techniques to evaluate the safety and efficacy of gene therapy vectors, which will allow for progress in developing safer vectors and better models for preclinical testing. The candidate will perform and analyze scientific experiments in our laboratories, to assist in achieving the overall mission. In particular, this work will analyze mouse and human proteins that interact with gene therapy vectors, with the goal of understanding how differences between mice and humans affect he interpretation of preclinical studies with gene therapy vectors in mouse models. This work will require laboratory and investigative procedures, data analysis, and implementation of processes and protocols. Duties/Responsibilities:Implement, plan, initiate and complete all experiments and protocols with minimal direction from project leaders.Analyze data and prepare graphs and reports using SigmaPlot, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.Collect, record, organize, and analyze experimental data. Maintain thorough and complete government-owned records of experiments, standard operation procedures (SOPs), and data in hard copy laboratory notebooks, as well as in electronic versions made available to the PI and other individuals in the laboratory. Summarize progress for presentation at Lab and Branch meetings and at research conferences. Be the lead writer of scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals. Aid in general maintenance of laboratory space and equipment to ensure it is a safe and clean working environment. Minimum Requirements:BA or BS in biology, chemistry, microbiology or a related field A minimum of 3 years of laboratory and/or research experience. Preferably in a relevant type of research and/or program. Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Work, PowerPoint).Must be able to obtain/maintain an FDA security clearance.
