Ophthalmic Technician sought for Alexandria, VA practice. This is an employer direct hire, permanent full time position, Monday - Friday. The Ophthalmic Technician: Assists the physicians with patient care and clinical flow Assists physicians with minor in office procedures Takes patient histories and performs technical work-ups and special tests Efficiently documents all pertinent information in patient records via EMR Communicates with patients regarding follow-up care, pre and post-operative care, testing, etc. Accurately performs the following: Visual acuity measurements near and far, with and without glasses Obtaining Eye glass information manually or via automated lensometry Ocular motility screening Manual Refractions Auto refractions with glare testing Intraocular pressure tonometry OCT Visual Fields Education, Skills and Experience Required High school education. Formal training in Ophthalmology a plus Three or more year's Ophthalmic Technician experience Proficiency in manual refractions Proficiency in the complete exam. Job Requirements: Performing in-office ophthalmic procedures Known as an ophthalmic technologist Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments Maintaining and cleaning ophthalmic instruments Participate in the care and treatment of ophthalmic patients Collect patient's medical history Relay to ophthalmic provider or technician Perform high quality ophthalmic procedures,focusing on patient care and education Perform high quality ophthalmic procedures,focusing on patient care and education Perform high quality ophthalmic procedures, focusing on patient care and education Perform basic patient care and ophthalmic testing procedures as directed by an Ophthalmologist Maintain, clean and sterilize ophthalmic instruments Performing in-office ophthalmic procedures Maintain, calibrate, clean, and sterilize ophthalmic instruments and equipment as indicated Assists physicians in performing in-office ophthalmic procedures Perform ophthalmic clinical duties, such as, measure visual acuity Evaluated for refractive procedures or for other ophthalmic surgery Perform visual testing of patients for detection of eye disease, obtain patients histories and perform diagnostic testing Obtain medical/ophthalmological history from each patient Maintain ophthalmic equipment and clean/stock assigned rooms Interview patients and document history
