Responsibilities:Our Real-Estate client is seeking a Residential Property Accountant based in their Greenbelt, MD corporate office. The Property Accountants perform daily accounting and financial reporting activities for assigned properties.As a Property Accountant, your primary responsibilities include:Maintain all aspects of accounting responsibility for at least 6 properties including:Preparation of monthly financial information in accordance with owner deadlines and requirementsForecasting cash flowAnalysis of monthly financial statementsMonthly bank reconciliationsInitiate monthly payments for debt service, owner distributions, etc.Calculation of monthly management fees and other feesMonthly general ledger account analysis and balance sheet account reconciliationResolution of problems and issues as neededResponsible for cash management of assets including determination of what can be paid weekly. Cash management includes communication on all items involving cash shortfalls and cash surplus' that involve capital calls or distributions to ownersResponsible for making all real estate tax and insurance payments timely to avoid late payments and penalties.Research problems under the direction of the immediate supervisor as requiredCommunicate with property owners and personnel as necessaryEnsure adherence to policies and procedures and maintain effective internal controlsWork as a team player in evaluating and resolving discrepancies, as neededIdentify and implement process improvementPerform additional duties as assignedWhat You Bring to Us:Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principlesExcellent verbal and written communication and listening skillsExcellent customer service skills and communicationStrong analytical and reasoning skillsStrong organization skills and ability to multitask efficiently and independentlyHigh degree of responsibility and initiative with the desire to advance beyond this positionStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and relate effectively, productively, and positively with other Associates and owner contactsDependable, punctual, and reliable with a strong work ethicKnowledge of or ability to learn property management accounting processes, including use of any industry specific software.Typing and data entry skillsAbility to use a 10-key calculator accurately by touchProficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and accounting systemsBA/BS in Accounting or Finance requiredTwo years of previous accounting experiencePrevious experience with Yardi or Yardi VoyagerWhat We Bring You:In addition to an award winning culture and amazing work spaces, our client offers a wide range of insurance options, financial programs, and benefits that let you and your family be healthy and plan for the future.
