Nature and Variety of WorkCOME JOIN OUR TEAMBilingual applicants are encouraged to applyThe Prince George's County Fire/Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department is currently seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a vacant, Fire/EMS Training Instructor I/II position, G-18/ G-21 in the Fire/EMS Training & Leadership Academy.About the Position:This is entry-level to full performance level professional work responsible for the administration, training and development. This position is responsible for conducting classes and courses of Instruction to career and volunteer members of the Fire/EMS Department. The work is performed under the supervision of the Director and Assistant Director of the Fire/EMS Training and Leadership Academy, and performance is evaluated in terms of its contribution to managerial improvement and organizational efficiency.Examples of WorkWhat You'll Do:Provide and conduct classes and courses of instruction to career and volunteer member of the Fire/EMS Department;Prepare classrooms for training sessions;Monitor and evaluate programs using test scores, student and instructor feedback personal observation, and critique forms;Work in partnership with Agency Staff in developing training curriculum and content to address performance deficiencies, staff development, and rank specific training;Oversee staff completing of training courses and ensures that all required documentation is collected;Develop and evaluate Fire/EMS Department programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and national standards;Supervise adjunct instructors, student officers/civilians attending the FIre/EMS academy;Review, prepare, document and ensure that all reports and documentation are completed;Perform other tasks and duties assigned, which may not be specifically listed in the position description; however, are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.Minimum QualificationsWhat You'll Need:Bachelor's degree in Education, Business/Public Administration, or a closely related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. EACH APPLICANT MUST INCLUDE INFORMATION THAT CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION.Additional InformationCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Upon selection, the candidate must:Successfully pass a thorough background investigation.Possess and maintain avalid driver's license.Have a Maryland Instructor Certification Review Board (MICRB) Level II Emergency Services Instructor by the completion of the first semester of school.Maintain a minimum of a State of Maryland EMT-B certification.DURATION OF ELIGIBILITY: Candidates will be selected from a temporary register of eligibles which will become effective approximately four (4) weeks after the closing date. Once a selection has been made, the register will expire.ELIGIBILITY TO WORK: Under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, an employer is required to hire only US citizens and lawfully authorized alien workers.
