Overview Accepting applications Open & closing dates Opening and closing dates09/09/2021 to 09/13/2021 Service Competitive Pay scale & grade GS 13 Salary $103,690 to $134,798 per year Appointment type Permanent Work schedule Full-time Duties SummaryThe Electromechanical Systems Branch (Code 544) is seeking an experienced aerospace engineer candidate to develop, fabricate, and test flight vehicle structures and mechanisms or their components and recommending optimum configurations, structural design, materials, and techniques for precision electromechanical and optomechanical assemblies for space flight applications.ResponsibilitiesDevelops, analyzes, fabricates and tests aerospace flight structures and mechanisms for precision electromechanical and optomechanical assemblies of space flight instruments and spacecraft.Develops conceptual and preliminary materials and structures analysis for layouts and designs, or to certify structures for space flight applications.Combine areas of optics, materials science, heat transfer, structures and mechanisms, and transducers to develop state-of-the-art equipment to meet or exceed scientific performance requirements for all launch and on-orbit environments.Serve as an expert in the design, development, test, checkout, and readiness of advanced equipment, systems or vehicles that involve new concepts and new and varied problems to be solved.Evaluates design objectives, performs complex technical calculations, and identifies the most economical and efficient procedures for materials and structures mechanics design and performance.Develop test plans, establish test methods, conduct risk and safety analyses, conduct tests, and analyze and report test results.Duties include project planning, technical review, consultation, and technical oversight of work performed by contractors.Provide technical reviews, advice on, and conduct complex analysis and development studies in support of major organization programs, including analysis of novel, unprecedented, or controversial problems.Travel RequiredOccasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level including designing, analyzing, fabricating, assembling and testing flight vehicle structures, mechanisms, or their components; troubleshooting and recommending optimum configurations, structural design, materials, techniques, for precision electromechanical and optomechanical assemblies.
